Fried Green Tomatoes with Remoulade Sauce
by Mary Wolter Makowski
Fried Green Tomatoes are a southern summertime treat. Add some Slap Ya Mama Seasonings and it's a party!
For the Fried Green Tomatoes:
two firm green tomatoes (these are not unripe red tomatoes, they are a type of tomato that is green when ripe)
1 cup flour
2 Tablespoons Slap Ya Mama Hot Cajun Seasoning
2 eggs
1-1/2 cups panko bread crumbs or as much as needed to coat
peanut oil for frying (about 1/2 cup)
Mix the flour and Slap Ya Mama Hot seasoning. Beat the eggs with a whisk or fork. Slice the tomatoes into 1/4 inch rounds. Dredge the tomatoes in the flour mixture. Dip in the eggs, then dredge in the panko crumbs until evenly coated. Working in batches, fry in the peanut oil about 3 minutes per side or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
